Fundamentals
of Petroleum Correspondence Course - is a revised edition
of PETEX's most popular correspondence course, featuring an
updated, improved text and all-objective test questions. It
was developed to give students a broad-ranging introduction
to the petroleum industry. The student receives the Fundamentals
textbook and a correspondence study guide consisting of
supplementary and explanatory material and test questions.
Satisfactory completion of all nine lessons earns the student

Land
and Leasing - is a comprehensive, clear treatment
of the subjects of land ownership, transfer, and leasing that
are basic to an understanding of that aspect of the petroleum
industry. The ten chapter cover privately owned land; state
and federal lands; the transfer of interests in land; land
measurement and land description; preparations for leasing;
elements of the lease; execution of the lease; preparations
for drilling, producing, and selling; agreements to explore
and develop leased properties; and pooling, unitization, and
release. Five appendixes discuss specific leasing practices
in Alaska, California, Louisiana, and Canada, and indicate
similarities and differences for Kansas, Michigan, New Mexico,
North Dakota, Oklahoma, Texas, and Wyoming. Other appendixes
give helpful information about the filing of legal instruments
for record, lease filing systems, and the calculation of interests.
