History
and Purpose
The
Association of Desk and Derrick Clubs created the Desk and Derrick
Educational Trust in 1982 for the purpose of awarding scholarship
grants to students who have completed two years of undergraduate
study while maintaining a 3.0 grade point average and
demonstrating financial need.
Applicants must be pursuing a degree in a major field of
study related to the petroleum, energy or allied industries with
the objective of obtaining full time employment in the industry.
Grants
are made through accredited colleges and universities offering
degrees in subjects within the scope of the organization’s
purpose. The awards
are made annually to eligible full-time students, as well as, Desk
and Derrick members who are either eligible full-time or part-time
students. The number
of grants may change annually and the deadline for receiving
scholarship applications is April 1 each year.
The scholarship application form can be found at www.addc.org
under the Educational Trust heading.
Upon achievement of their career goals, recipients of
Educational Trust scholarship grants are encouraged to remember
the Trust with future donations to aid others.
The
management and administration of the Trust lies within the Board
of Trustees composed of five members in good standing of the
Association of Desk and Derrick Clubs.
Appointed by the ADDC President with approval from the ADDC
Board, each Trustee serves for a term of five years set on a
rotating schedule. The
original Board of Trustees included Eda DeSantis, Frances C.
Hidell, Paula Mace, Julia McCormick and Gladys Watford and the
first scholarships were announced in 1984.
